How the fixture works
Each club plays six opponents four times and three opponents three times. Rounds have between 5 and 10 games, so in a busy round some clubs play twice and in a quiet one some have a week off. Sunday is the busiest day for games (41), ahead of Saturday (39). Tip-off times are in your own time zone on the schedule page.
The ten clubs don't all play each other the same number of times, so the strength of a team's schedule matters. The ladder rates every club's remaining games by the current record of the opponents still to play.
The pause in late November lines up with FIBA's international window, when national teams such as the Boomers and the Tall Blacks play World Cup qualifiers, so clubs don't lose players to national duty mid-round.
Christmas and New Year games
The NBL plays straight through the holidays, and the summer break is one of the busiest stretches of the season:
| Day | Game | Tip-off (your time) |
|---|---|---|

| New Year's Eve | Cairns Taipans vs NZ Breakers | |
| New Year's Day | Tasmania JackJumpers vs Perth Wildcats |
Regional and neutral-venue games
Most games are at a club's regular home arena, but several are taken on the road to regional centres or played at a neutral venue:
Round 17 is played entirely at RAC Arena, with 5 games from 13 to 17 January.

After the regular season
The top six on the ladder go to the finals: a play-in for the teams finishing third to sixth, best-of-three semi-finals and a best-of-five Championship Series. Finals dates are confirmed by the league as the season goes on. Last season's Championship Series ran from 21 March to 5 April 2026, and the Sydney Kings beat the Adelaide 36ers in a deciding fifth game. The finals format guide explains each stage.
