About the Adelaide 36ers
Since 1982The Adelaide 36ers take their name from 1836, the year South Australia was proclaimed, and have been part of the NBL since 1982. Their 1986 side is still talked about as one of the best teams the league has produced, and the club added three more championships in a golden run around the turn of the century, including back-to-back titles in 1998 and 1998–99.
Adelaide is one of the NBL's most loyal basketball markets, with big crowds at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre. The club has also become a launching pad for NBA talent: Josh Giddey spent his breakout 2020–21 season in Adelaide before being taken sixth in the NBA Draft.
